Vietnam donates medical masks to Japan
(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, authorized by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, on Friday presented a donation of 140,000 medical masks from the Vietnamese government to the Japanese government and people. The donation was agreed by two countries’ Prime Ministers during their phone call on May 4.

At the handover ceremony in Hanoi, Deputy FM Trung said Vietnam and Japan, who are extensive strategic partners, have proactively exchanged information and worked closely with each other in the fight against COVID-19, both in the bilateral and multilateral frameworks, including the ASEAN plus 3. The Deputy FM applauded the Japanese government’s measures to cope with the pandemic and thanked Tokyo for its assistance for Vietnam and the Vietnamese community in Japan to fight COVID-19.
Mr. Trung congratulated Yamada Takio for his appointment as Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam and called for his close coordination to boost the extensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
The Ambassador pledged to continue working together with Vietnam in fighting COVID-19, helping in Vietnam’s socio-economic development, and strengthening cooperation in global and regional forums, as Vietnam is concurrently Chair of ASEAN for 2020 and non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2020-2021 term.
