Vietnam, EU conclude final round of FTA talks
(VOVworld) – Vietnam and the EU concluded the 11th round of talks on the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) in Belgium on Friday.
Luong Hoang Thai, Director of the Multilateral Economic Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said at the final talks, both sides agreed on controversial issues relating to services, investment, and the foreigners' participation in public procurement packages.
Thai, who is also Deputy Head of the Vietnamese negotiation delegation, noted that Vietnam and the EU are on the right track of the negotiation. He expressed his belief that the deal will be signed soon.
The 28-member EU is the biggest world economy with a GDP of 18 trillion USD, accounting for 22% of the global GDP. By the end of 2013, the bloc has 1,400 direct investment projects in Vietnam in effect with total accumulated registered capital of more than 18 trillion USD.
