Director of the Plant Protection Department Hoang Trung underlined product quality and safety management for exports.
“We must prevent or eliminate pest infestation before exporting products to the US market. This is the responsibility of the owners of the growing area codes and of the specialized agencies responsible for monitoring, and is of vital importance,” said Trung.
To export clean products that fully meet the requirements of the US, harvested products must be free of harmful organisms, Trung noted.
All pomelo batches shipped to the US will be irradiated at US-recognized establishments under the supervision of the US Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and the Plant Protection Department.
