Vietnam, Germany foster strategic partnership

(VOVworld) - Hanns-Joerg Brunner, Chargé d’Affaires of the German Embassy in Vietnam, has hailed the steadily improving relations between the two countries highlighted by the establishment of a strategic partnership in 2011. He made the remarks at meeting Thursday in Hanoi held by the Embassy to mark the 25th anniversary of Germany’s Unification Day (October 3) and the 40th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations (September 23). The German diplomat said he hopes that the upcoming State visit to Germany by President Truong Tan Sang and a tour of Vietnam by German Foreign Minister Frank Walter-Steinmeier will help consolidate political trust and boost the Vietnam-Germany strategic partnership.

Nguyen Thien Nhan, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, expressed thanks for the support the German government and people have given Vietnam during its national liberation, socio-economic development, and international integration.

He said Vietnam and Germany have boosted cooperation in political and diplomatic fields though delegation exchanges at all levels and cooperation mechanisms like the macro-economic dialogue and political consultations between the two foreign ministries. He expressed his hope that the two nations will see breakthroughs in trade and investment in the next five years that will allow them to fully tap their potential. Nhan said Vietnam and Germany share viewpoints and benefits on a wide range of important issues.
