(VOVworld) - Measures to boost trade between Vietnam and Germany were discussed during a Vietnam Fatherland Front delegation’s working visit to Germany that ended on Tuesday. The delegation, headed by President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Nguyen Thien Nhan, met with German parliamentarians to deepen the two countries’ strategic partnership. At meetings, the two sides affirmed that the relationship between Vietnam and Germany has progressed over the past four decades, especially after the formation of a strategic partnership in 2011. The two sides discussed ways to boost bilateral trade and increase Germany’s investment in Vietnam. They said they believe trade volume, currently 8 billion USD a year - three percent of Vietnam’s total trade - will continue to rise. They also discussed human rights, freedom of religion, and the East Sea. Vietnam and Germany agreed to promote the role of each and increase German participation in the development of ASEAN. The Germans expressed hope that the EU- Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) will be signed.
