(VOVWORLD) - A repatriation ceremony for a set of remains suspected to belong to a US serviceman missing during the war in Vietnam took place in Hanoi on Thursday.
This set of remains was unearthed between July and September and examined by Vietnamese forensic specialists. It was recommended that the remains be taken to Hawaii for further examination.
Addressing the ceremony, US Ambassador Daniel Kritenbrink thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for their cooperation in the MIA mission, and pledged the US’s continued support for Vietnam in dealing with the consequences of the war.
The search for the remains of US servicemen missing in action in Vietnam is being conducted as a cooperative activity. This was the 154th hand-over of remains since 1973.
