Prime Minister Chinh made the suggestion during a phone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.

Prime Minister Modi expressed his willingness to work closely with Vietnam in this field, saying India wants to strengthen ties with Vietnam in all fields from politics to economy, defense, security and culture.

The two Prime Ministers discussed measures to promote the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, agreeing to maintain high-level contacts, either online or in person when the pandemic conditions allow, and coordinate in celebrating the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations on January 7, 2022.

The two leaders agreed on efforts to soon achieve two-way trade turnover of 15 billion USD per year, 5 billion USD higher than the 10 billion USD trade turnover in 2020.

They consented to strengthen mutual support and coordinate more closely at regional and international forums, especially at the United Nations when the two countries are both non-permanent members of the Security Council in 2021.

The two Prime Ministers affirmed the importance of maintaining peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and overflight, and peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with international law.
