Vietnam is the center of Australia’s policy for South East Asia

(VOVWORLD) - Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will begin his two-day official visit to Vietnam on Saturday, his first visit to Vietnam as a Prime Minister.

In an interview granted to VOV, Professor Gordon Flake, the founding CEO of the Perth USAsia Centre at the University of Western Australia, said Mr. Albanese's visit to Vietnam demonstrates the future development of the bilateral relationship.

Both are becoming important partners of each other in strategic and economic aspects.

Layton Pike, co-founder of Australia-Vietnam Policy Institute, said Prime Minister Albanese's visit will offer an opportunity for leaders of the two countries to strengthen connections and discuss important issues in the bilateral relationship.

Pike said that Australia and Vietnam have more effective cooperation in all fields from security-defense to science-technology, economy, human resource development, education, and tourism.

More particularly, trade relations have developed strongly, with a mutual trade turnover reaching 15.7 billion USD last year, making the two one of ten leading trading partners of each other.
