From now to May, the plan requires relevant ministries, sectors and localities to make lists of fishing vessels, and register, mark license and install of vessel monitoring systems (VMS) on all vessels according to regulations.
The VMS will monitor all fishing vessels operating at sea 24/7. The plan is to end illegal fishing in foreign waters; investigate and handle all cases of Vietnamese fishing vessels arrested by other countries, handle and sanction all cases of IUU fishing and expand cooperation on IUU fishing prevention and control with other countries and international fisheries organizations.
