The event was attended by Prime Minister Phuc and Nikai Toshihiro, Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan.

Mr. Phuc said the achievements are attributed to the mutual trust in politics, security, defense, diplomacy, efficient cooperation in economics, and diversity in cultural exchanges, tourism, and connectivity between the two peoples.

The relationship between Vietnam and Japan is undergoing the best time since they established diplomatic ties in 1973, Mr. Phuc said.

“The Vietnamese government and people always consider Japan a reliable and important partner for long term cooperation. Japan also views Vietnam as a leading strategic partner in the region,” Mr. Phuc said, adding that “currently Vietnam is coordinating ASEAN-Japan relations for the 2018-2021 term, serving as ASEAN Chair for 2020, and is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 tenure. I hope we can work together to raise bilateral relations to new heights.”

On the occasion, Mr. Phuc and Mr. Toshihiro performed a ritual to plant Oga lotus and witnessed the presentation of Japanese books to several schools in the central region.
