Vietnam, Japan to boost agricultural cooperation
(VOVworld) – Japan’s prefecture Ibaraki will do its utmost to support Vietnam’s agricultural development by enhancing cooperation with Vietnam in science and technology application. This was agreed at a meeting between Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Viet Thanh, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Doan Xuan Hung, and Ibaraki Governor Masaru Hashimoto at the prefecture headquarters on Wednesday.
Deputy Minister Tran Viet Thanh asked Ibaraki to support Vietnam in developing new plant breeds that can better endure droughts, floods, and prevent pestilent insects, while improving Vietnam’s processing capability and quality. He also suggested the prefecture to help Vietnam improving its capacity in science and technology application, management and exports of agricultural products by sending experts to localities in Vietnam. Governor Hashimito said he will lead a delegation of 70 members to visit Vietnam in early October.
During a trip to Japan this week, the Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Minister Tran Viet Thanh will also visit several agricultural cooperatives and research centers in Ibaraki to seek cooperative opportunities.
