Vietnam joins ILO’s Convention concerning occupational safety

(VOVworld) – Vietnam has joined the International Labor Organization’s (ILO) Convention 187 on a Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health. The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs announced the decision at a ceremony in Hanoi on Wednesday. President Truong Tan Sang signed the decision into effect on January 23, 2014. Deputy Minister Pham Minh Huan said this will help ensure the best interests of workers, employers, and society as a whole: “We will cooperate with the relevant agencies to disseminate the contents of the Convention and Vietnam’s policies on occupational safety. This will help to create the best possible conditions for laborers.”

30 countries have ratified Convention 187 so far.
