(VOVworld) – Workers, represented by a trade union, and employers should regularly conduct dialogues to prevent and settle labor disputes. The point was agreed at a conference in Ho Chi Minh city on Tuesday sponsored by Vietnam’s Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs and a project by the US Department of Labor to aid labor law enforcement and labor inspection in Vietnam.

Participants were unanimous that minimizing labor disputes requires increasing the role of trade unions tasked with protecting workers’ rights and interests, enhancing democracy in workplaces, and building up collective labor agreements which harmonize the interests of employers and employees.
