(VOVworld) – The Ministry of National Defense reviewed its performance last year and outlined tasks for this year in Hanoi on Wednesday.

This year’s major tasks will include implementing Party and state policies on international integration and defense cooperation, participating in UN peacekeeping activities, and expanding relations with neighboring countries. Other tasks include promoting relations with partners and becoming engaged in multilateral mechanisms. In his address, Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh said national defense agencies should coordinate with the relevant agencies to study global and regional situations and analyze the advantages and disadvantages for external relations and external defense. He stressed the importance of strategic research and forecasts and personnel training for external defense, as well as building a defense integration strategy with ASEAN until 2020 with a vision to 2030.
