Vietnam prepares to join UN peace keeping mission
(VOVworld) – Defense Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh visited UN peace keeping mission and other functional agencies in New York from June 26th to 29th. The visit aimed to prepare for Vietnam’s joining of the UN peace keeping force. At a reception, Edmon Mulet, UN Assistant Secretary General, who is in charge of peace keeping, praised Vietnam for sharing responsibility with the international community and its willingness to join the UN peace keeping mission. He said as a peace loving nation Vietnam will contribute its valuable experiences to protecting peace for humanity. Lieutenant General Vinh appreciated the UN’s trust in Vietnam in peace keeping and said the country had prepared enough conditions including legal procedures to quickly send its troops to the peace keeping force.
