Vietnam Prime Minister to deliver key note speech at Shangri-La Dialogue
(VOVworld) - The 12th Asia Security Summit also known as the Shangri-La Dialogue will convene in Singapore on May 31st. Defense ministers, senior military officials, and top defense analysts from 27 countries from Asia-Pacific, North America and Europe will attend the event. The 3-day forum will analyze defense and security issues in and outside Asia and ways to build trust and strengthen regional security cooperation. Director General and Chief Executive of the International Institute for Strategic Studies John Chipman said Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will deliver a key note speech at the event.

He added that Prime Minister Dung’s participation will play an important role in discussions about regional security at the forum. In an interview with the Vietnam News Agency in Singapore, Vietnamese Ambassador Tran Hai Hau said Prime Minister Dung’s participation is important to joint efforts by ASEAN to maintain peace and security in the East Sea, especially when all ASEAN member countries have agreed to quickly begin negotiations with China on the Code of Conduct in the East Sea.
