Speaking at a reception in Hanoi on Tuesday for Vice Chair of Germany’s Die Linke (The Left) party Simone Oldenburg, Ms. Mai said she hopes both parties will boost friendship and cooperation, thereby strengthening ties between the two nations. During the German delegation’s visit to Vietnam, both parties organized a policy dialogue to share experience in handling relations between market economy and socialism and between market and State. They also discussed challenges to the socialism-oriented market economy in Vietnam and current left-wing parties in Germany and Europe.

The same day, the German delegation visited the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin (VAVA). Ms. Oldenburg expressed her appreciation of VAVA’s activities and sympathies for the losses borne by Vietnamese people, particularly Agent Orange/dioxin victims, after the war.
