Vietnam proactively participates in AMM-51: Deputy FM
(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam participated in the 51st ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM-51) late last week in Singapore in the spirit of proactiveness and support for Singapore-proposed priorities.
Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh attended more than 30 activities and had 15 bilateral meetings with his counterparts from ASEAN and partners on the sideline of the meeting. Deputy PM Minh highlighted Vietnam’s viewpoints and approaches which received attention and support from other participating countries. Mr. Minh’s talks on regional and global issues, including the East Sea issue, matched the opinions of ASEAN countries and partners, creating a common awareness at the meeting.
Deputy FM Dung said that after 3 years taking the role of rotating coordinator for the ASEAN-India partnership, Vietnam successfully accomplished its tasks and contributed to achievements of cooperation between ASEAN and India. Vietnam now officially assumes the post of coordinator for the ASEAN-Japan relationship for the 2018-2021 period.
