Vietnam proposes further links among parliaments
(VOVWORLD) - Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Tong Thi Phong has proposed to increase the building of trust, mutual understanding and respect, and promote co-operation, dialogue, and exchange of experience in parliaments.

At the fourth Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments (MSEAP 4) which closed on Tuesday in Nur Sultan, the capital city of Kazakhstan, Ms. Phong called for promoting regional, inter-regional and global multilateral co-operation in economy, trade, technology transfer, and increasing cultural exchanges in Asia and Europe, building a culture of dialogue for peace, tolerance, and harmony among countries.
Ms. Phong said Vietnam supports efforts to make the Eurasian parliament cooperation mechanism a strong forum for legislative bodies of regional countries and connect it with other inter-parliamentary forums and organizations around the world.
Earlier, at a meeting with South Korean National Assembly Speaker Moon Hee-sang on the sidelines of the meeting, Madam Phong said Vietnam welcomes the New Southern Policy of the RoK, which attaches great importance to cooperation with ASEAN, including Vietnam.
She spoke highly of the RoK’s stance on the East Sea issue, proposing that South Korea continue supporting the stance of ASEAN and Vietnam in maintaining peace and stability and settling disputes in the East Sea through peaceful measures in line with international law and the full implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and soon reaching a Code of Conduct in the East Sea.
