Vietnam ranks top at SEA Games 31
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam is standing atop the SEA Games 31 medal tally with 88 gold medals on Monday, with 20 golds won in Pencak Silat, athletics, Taekwondo, and swimming.

On May 16, athletics once again impressed with four gold medals. Pencak silat fighters brought the Vietnamese team 5 gold medals while the taekwondo team brought home 4 gold medals.
The most prominent athlete on May 16 was Dinh Phuong Thanh, who won against World Champion Carlos Yulo to grasp two gold medals in gymnastics.
The other gold medals of Vietnam came from other events such as terrain cycling, fencing, shooting, and swimming.
On the medal table of the 31st SEA Games, the Vietnamese delegation ranked first with 88 gold medals; followed by the Thai delegation with 36 gold medals and the Philippines with 30 gold medals.
