(VOVWORLD) - A number of freight trains between China’s Shiangliu and Chengdu and Vietnam began their operation last week, said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang at a press conference on Thursday.

She said international freight trains, which are safe, cost-efficient, and time-saving, will facilitate the transport of goods between Vietnam and China as well as to other markets.
The rail transport connection conforms with the promotion of the “Two Corridors, One Belt” framework, an initiative involving Vietnam and China and part of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Vietnam is ready to work with China for a steady, sustainable growth of bilateral trade that benefits both, Ms. Hang said.
