Vietnam reiterates commitment to close cooperation with WFP
(VOVWORLD) - Executive Director of the World Food Program (WFP) David Beasley lauded Vietnam’s reform achievements, especially in reducing poverty and ensuring food security, at a reception for Vietnamese Ambassador Duong Hai Hung, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the WFP, who came to present his credentials in Rome on Wednesday.

Mr. Beasley said Vietnam has transformed itself from an aid recipient to one of the largest exporters of rice and other agricultural products in the world, and urged Vietnam to share its experience and provide technical assistance to underdeveloped countries.
Hung asked the WFP to help Vietnam guarantee food security and develop the livelihoods of rural residents.
He reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to closely cooperating with the WFP and other UN agencies in fulfilling the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in poverty reduction.
