(VOVworld)- Vietnam has handed over to the US remains believed to be those of American servicemen who died during the war in Vietnam. A repatriation ceremony was held in Da Nang International Airport Monday.

This will be the 122nd post-war repatriation of US remains since 1973. Speaking at the event, a representative from the US Embassy said that the US welcomes and appreciates the cooperation and assistance of the Vietnamese government in both past and future investigations and recovery operations. The remains were discovered during the 106th Joint Search in Vietnam.  US-Vietnamese teams have worked together on officially recognized Joint Field operations since September 1988.
