Vietnam, Republic of Korea promote trade and investment cooperation

(VOVworld) - Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh received President of the Korean International Cooperation Agency and met with Speaker of the National Assembly on Tuesday.

During his meeting with Speaker Chung Ui Hwa, Deputy Prime Minister Ninh asked for more Korean financial support to further develop Vietnam’s social economic infrastructure. He thanked Speaker Hwa for his support to protect the livelihood of Vietnamese working in the Republic of Korea. Ninh said Vietnam has strengthened its management of workers in Korea to ensure their compliance with local regulations. Both sides agreed on the future signing of a treaty on mutual legal assistance and to promote people-to-people exchanges. Speaker Hwa said the Korean National Assembly will ratify the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea to boost trade and investment ties.

Receiving the President of the Korean International Cooperation Agency, Kim Young Mok, Deputy Prime Minister Ninh pledged the efficient use of official development assistance. He called for the expansion of the new rural village model support by the Korean agency, which has been piloted in Quang Tri and Lao Cai provinces. Mr Kim Young Mok said his agency is interested in waste treatment projects because they support green growth.
