Mr. Phuc told a cabinet meeting on Tuesday that though the novel coronavirus has been well controlled in Vietnam, there is no room for complacency as COVID-19 continues to spread worldwide and has reemerged in several countries.                                      

“We must closely watch the situation in the world and ensure maximal safety for sustainable development in a new normal. Priority will be given to boosting the domestic economy," he said.

"We have to be well prepared for reopening to the outside world in terms of economics, politics, and external affairs, particularly with partner countries where the pandemic has subsided significantly.” 

Mr. Phuc said measures supporting the domestic economy should consider allowing controlled arrivals of foreign experts, investors, and skilled workers. 

Mr. Phuc said there is no restriction of flights to bring home Vietnamese citizens abroad. He assigned the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control to announce safe zones for reopening flights to destinations where COVID-19 cases have not been detected for 30 days or more.
