Vietnam, Russia issue joint statement on information security
(VOVWORLD) -President Tran Dai Quang held a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Da Nang on Friday on the sidelines of the APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’ Meeting.
President Quang thanked the President, Government and people of Russia for their financial assistance to help Vietnam overcome damage caused by storm Damrey. Vietnam gives priorities to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, President Quang said. He suggested Russia facilitate Vietnamese enterprises to invest in the Far East region in accordance with the potentials and demands of the two sides.
After the meeting, Vietnam and Russia issued a joint statement on their cooperation in safeguarding international information security. The leaders noted remarkable progresses in the development and use of information technology and communications (ITC), creating a global information environment that has increasingly impacted people’s daily life. They expressed their concern that modern ITC would be used to serve purposes that don’t benefit international security, stability and peace, and would become direct threats to citizens, societies and states. The two sides consented to build and consolidate common trust, guarantee information security for major national security projects, and prevent the use of ITC for terrorism and other crimes.
