(VNA) - Ambassador Nguyen Hoang Long has vowed to do his best to strengthen Vietnam-Malta cooperation in key fields of economics, trade, tourism and education during his working term. Presenting his credentials to Malta President George Abela, Long forwarded Vietnamese State President Truong Tan Sang’s regards to the host, affirming that he will do his utmost to deepen the bilateral ties between the two countries.
He briefed his host on Vietnam’s achievements in socio-economy and international integration over the years, as well as the country’s strategies and goals in the coming time. Congratulating Long on his new position, President Abela expressed his delight at the sound development of the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries over the past years, affirming that relevant agencies of his country are willing to support Long to fulfill his tasks. Two-way trade between Vietnam and Malta remains modest at about US$1 million per annum. Currently, the two sides are preparing for the negotiations of a double-taxation avoidance agreement.
