(VOVworld) - Vietnam will share its experience in tobacco harm prevention at the seventh session of the Conference of the Parties (COP7) in India from November 7-13.

More than 2,000 delegates from 180 member nations of the World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) as well as the United Nations and other non-governmental organizations were brought together by the event. The Vietnamese delegation is led by Professor Nguyen Viet Tien, Deputy Minister of Health, and Head of the Fund for Tobacco Harm Prevention and Control. The Vietnamese delegation will share Vietnam’s accomplishments in the field, implementation of the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco’s Harmful Effects, a survey of tobacco use among adults, and an expansion of non-smoking city models. The Vietnamese delegation is expected to coordinate with the Convention Secretariat to host a symposium on gender-specific risks in applying tobacco control strategies.
