Vietnam, Sierra Leone promote trade and investment
(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam-Sierra Leone Business Forum was held in Hanoi on Wednesday during Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio’s official visit to Vietnam.

In his address, Chairman of the Vietnam Federation of Trade and Industry Pham Tan Cong expressed his hope that Vietnam, as a gateway to Southeast Asia, will continue to draw attention of Sierra Leone investors in the future. He said he wanted the two countries’ businesses to strengthen exchanges of information, promote cooperation, and tap each other’s strength including Vietnam’s farm produce, construction materials, and medical materials as well as Sierra Leone’s agricultural products, fisheries, and minerals.

Sierra Leone’s Minister of Industry and Trade Edward Hinga Sandy expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s socio-economic development achievements in recent years and highlighted the potential for trade between the two countries. He said Vietnamese businesses will have a lot of investment opportunities in Sierra Leone and Sierra Leone can increase trade with other countries in the region through its’ cooperation with Vietnam.
At the forum, the delegates discussed opportunities to invest in Sierra Leone’s agriculture and fisheries and in Vietnam’s technology to promote increased bilateral trade.
Notably, Lyoa Global Company of Sierra Leone and Vietnam SJC Construction company also signed an agreement at the forum to enable Vietnamese businesses to invest in Sierra Leone and other African countries.
