(VOVWORLD) - Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long called for tough measures to prevent illegal immigration to keep the novel coronavirus at bay in the community.

On Wednesday, he told an online meeting regarding COVID-19 prevention and control connecting 63 cities and provinces nationwide, “We request ultimate effort to control coaches travelling in border provinces. We will circulate a list of registered bus services for monitoring. An all-out effort should be launched nationwide to detect illegal immigration to protect the community from virus threats.”

Earlier, at the request of the Ministry of Health, the Prime Minister decided to restrict repatriation flights until after the Lunar New Year holiday to minimize risk.
