(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam affirmed its support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Mali at a online meeting of the UN Security Council on Monday.

Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, head of Vietnam’s permanent mission to the UN, called for dialogue and negotiation to resolve differences and fully implement Mali’s 2015 peace deal.
Mr. Quy also called for measures to ensure the safety of Mali’s people, particularly its women and children, and show support for the UN’s Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), the African Union, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and the European Union in maintaining peace and security in Mali.
