Addressing the 27th plenary meeting of the UN General Assembly, Quy said Vietnam supports an increase in the number of permanent and non-permanent UNSC members to ensure fair representation of regions, especially for developing countries.

Quy underlined the need to take into account the role and contribution of each country in maintaining international peace and security when considering the selection of new Security Council members.
Intergovernmental negotiations needs to focus on the UN's long-term goals and visions, he said, noting that the negotiations should be sincere and mutually respectful, and try to find common ground.
