The Ministry of Planning and Investment has submitted to the Prime Minister new scenarios for socio-economic development. Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Quoc Phuong said the epidemic’s impact on economic growth depends on the time in which it is contained: "The Ministry of Planning and Investment has worked closely with other ministries and sectors to collect data to evaluate the impact of the epidemic on economic growth. We will regularly update information and review scenarios to report to the government and the Prime Minister."
Regarding support for sectors and areas affected by the epidemic, Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung said: “We need an overview of the situation before introducing a stimulus package. If the epidemic becomes more serious, the government and the Prime Minister will discuss this issue further.”
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien said: “The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development agreed with the Ministry of Industry and Trade not to transport goods to the border but distribute them in the domestic market instead. We will ask enterprises and localities to focus on farm produce processing and boosting trade with other countries to ease reliance on China. We have worked out a plan to restructure agricultural production.”
