Of them, more than 2,000 will apply high technology in agricultural production and marketing and ensure traceability. The number of cooperatives in Vietnam increased 7% last year, the meeting was told.

“It’s necessary to improve the national steering committee for the collective economy to ensure effective leadership and coordination. It’s also important to increase communications to raise public awareness of the significant role of the collective economy and cooperative economy,” said Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai who heads the steering commitee.

At a conference on sustainable agricultural cooperatives in the Mekong Delta the same day, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan urged localities in the region to focus on the collective economy and cooperative economy, taking the people as the center.

“Only with sustainable cooperatives can we develop large-scale agriculture, increase farmers’ income, create more added values, and transform from agricultural production to an agricultural economy,” said Minister Hoan.
