(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha discussed ways to boost bilateral cooperation on the sidelines of the ASEAN-US Summit in California this week, pledging to work together for the effective implementation of the Plan of Action to realize the Vietnam – Thailand Strategic Partnership from 2014 to 2018 and agreements at the third joint Cabinet meeting in July, 2015.

Prime Minister Dung called on Thailand to cooperate closely with Vietnam in handling issues related to fishermen and fishing vessels in a humanitarian spirit and in line with the friendship and strategic partnership between the two nations. The two leaders agreed to direct their Foreign Ministers to coordinate the cooperation and establish a deputy minister-level dialogue mechanism on security and defense as soon as possible.
PM Chan-ocha proposed boosting economic, commercial, and investment ties with a focus on labour, fisheries, and agricultural cooperation. The two PMs were also unanimous about enhancing the solidarity and promoting the central role of ASEAN in dealing with regional issues of peace, security and development.
