(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam will host the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31), followed by the 11th ASEAN Para Games (Para Games 11) in 2021, according to a decision signed by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Athletes will compete in 36 sports of the Games, which will be divided into three categories. One will be devoted to athletics and aquatics, another for gymnastics, rowing, football, shooting, weightlifting and martial arts, and the third for regional and new sports such as chess, silat, muay, and vovinam.
The 31st tournament will take place from November 21 until December 2, in Hanoi and several neighboring localities including Vinh Phuc, Ninh Binh, Hai Phong, and Hoa Binh. The event is expected to draw the participation of 11 countries throughout the region with nearly 20,000 people, including 7,000 athletes.
