Vietnam to reduce poverty rate by 1.5% annually
(VOVworld) – The Prime Minister has approved a national target program for the 2016-2020 period, which aims to reduce the poverty rate by 1-1.5% annually. In poor districts and communes and areas inhabited by ethnic minority groups, the reduction rates should be 4%. The program also sets a target of increasing income per capita of the poor by 1.5 times higher than late 2015. Socio-economic infrastructure in poor areas will be upgraded to meet the new rural area standards. According to the 2.1 million USD program, half of poor districts will escape from poverty by 2020.
