Mr. Dung said that the key task now is to quickly restore Vietnam’s pre-pandemic economic growth.
Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Quoc Phuong said: “Business activities should be reopened gradually. The Ministry of Planning and Investment has come up with different scenarios and strategies for development after the pandemic. The Ministry will study opportunities to boost the domestic economy, which will require changes in Vietnam’s economic structure and the orientations of business enterprises. Pandemic restrictions will be loosened as the pandemic subsides.”
At the meeting, Mr. Dung said that Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will hold an online meeting with domestic enterprises on Saturday to discuss ways to address current economic difficulties.
Mr. Dung said: “The Prime Minister and other government leaders want to hear the opinions of business representatives about how to address difficulties, create consensus, and resume business following the pandemic.”
The Ministry of Planning and Investment will submit to the Government a draft resolution on assisting businesses in a wider scale.
Deputy Minister Phuong said: “This resolution follows March’s Resolution 42. Resolution 42 focuses on social welfare and solutions related to monetary and fiscal year policies. I think we need more comprehensive measures to ease difficulties for businesses. The current draft will be expanded, particularly as it relates to quickly disbursing this year’s public investment capital.”
Mr. Phuong said that the draft resolution includes stronger measures to motivate economic recovery.
