Vietnam tuna exports surge 15%
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s tuna exports totaled nearly 230 million USD in the first four months of 2021, up 15% from the same period last year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Vietnam enjoyed a strong growth of tuna exports to the EU, the US, Israel, and members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). The US is currently the biggest buyer of Vietnam’s tuna, importing 7,000 tons a year, 41% of the total market share. Tuna exports in April were 56% higher than last year.
VASEP General Secretary Truong Dinh Hoe said seafood exports have bounced back since the beginning of this year and are expected to increase.
