(VOVworld) – UK Prime Minister David Cameron began a two-day visit to Vietnam on Wednesday, This is the first time that a British Prime Minister has visited Vietnam since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1973. Vietnam and the UK established their strategic partnership in 2010 with bilateral cooperation focusing on politics, diplomacy, trade, investment, education, training, science, technology, national defense, and people-to-people exchanges. The UK is Vietnam’s leading partner in the EU with two-way trade reaching 4.5 billion USD in 2014.
During talks on Wednesday, Prime Minister Dung and Prime Minister Cameron agreed on ways to deepen the two countries’ strategic partnership along with further cooperation in modern science and technology, finance, banking, education, training, and national defense. After talks, they witnessed the signing of a number of cooperative agreements.
