(VOVworld) - The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) will host a number of activities to mark its 65
th anniversary, said Don Tuan Phong, VUFO Vice Chairman and Secretary General, at a news conference in Hanoi on Thursday. Among the activities are a forum on peace, unity and friendship and a visit to the place Vietnam’s Committee for World Peace Protection – the predecessor of the VUFO – was established in Dinh Hoa, Thai Nguyen province.
Phong said that, from a few members in its early days, VUFO has increased the number of its member organizations to 111 today. It has contributed significantly to Vietnam’s reforms, national development, and defense, and promoted the collaboration of Vietnam with foreign non-governmental organizations (NGO).
