Addressing a plenary meeting on oceans and the law of the sea of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday, Giang said Vietnam calls on countries to continue to fully comply with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, including the obligation to peacefully resolve disputes and respect the rights of coastal states when conducting lawful economic activities in their waters determined under the convention.
Vietnam commits to supporting climate initiatives and believes that appropriate support methods and mechanisms will help minimize negative impacts of climate change, he added.
The same day, the General Assembly voted to pass a resolution on oceans and the law of the sea, co-sponsored by 110 countries, including Vietnam.
