Vietnam urges EU to remove “yellow card” warning on Vietnamese seafood

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has called on the European Commission to soon remove its “yellow card” warning on Vietnamese seafood.

Mr. Phuc was speaking at a reception in Hanoi on Monday for a delegation of the European Parliament’s Committee on Fisheries led by its spokesman Mato Gabriel.

Mr. Phuc said Vietnam considers the relationship between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the European Parliament (EP) a pillar of Vietnam-EU cooperation. He asked the EP to continue backing the settlement of disputes in the East Sea by peaceful means on the basis of international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Mr. Gabriel said Vietnam is a key trade partner, adding that he hopes for a prompt signing of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.
