(VNA) - The 14
th Francophone Summit concluded in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Sunday. Leaders of the Francophone Community approved the Kinshasa Communique, resolutions against piracy in the Gulf of Guinea, and cooperative documents to boost the use of the French language.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan said Vietnam has always made an effort to contribute to the global French language community, supported solidarity among member countries, and taken initiatives to promote it, especially by helping poor and developing countries boost their economies, stabilize their political and social situations, and integrate into the world. Doan said the Francophone Community should adjust its policies to seek more resources and promote greater cooperation with the UN, the EU and the African Union.
Within the framework of the Summit, Doan held talks with Abdou Diouf, Secretary General of the International Francophone Organization, the President of the Republic of Congo, Foreign Minister of Haiti, the Minister without Portfolio of Romania, and the Governor of Quebec, Canada. She witnessed the signing of the Project on French language training for Vietnamese officials.
