At a dialogue between the Executive Board of the UN Development Program and United Nations member countries on actions to accelerate the adoption of sustainable energy for development on Tuesday, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the UN, suggested that the UN and UNDP could play a crucial role in this effort through specific actions.
He called for better coordination and support from the UN and UNDP to help developing countries access sustainable and preferential funding for energy projects, without diverting resources from other essential development initiatives.
Additionally, he recommended that UNDP be involved in policy-making processes related to the exploitation of essential minerals for energy transition, taking into account the needs and concerns of developing countries.
