Vietnam, US hold defence consultation
(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh has called on Vietnam and the US to boost cooperation on navigation, maritime security and the settlement of war consequences, contributing to peace, stability and development in the Indo-Pacific region.

Mr. Vinh made the call at a reception in Hanoi on Friday for US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel Kritenbrink and Stephen Sklenka, Director of the US Strategic Planning and Policy Directorate.
Ambassador Kritenbrink described security and defence cooperation as a bright spot in the Vietnam-US relationship, and expressed his belief that the good relations between armies of the two countries will be enhanced.
Major General Sklenka said his agency and the Foreign Relations Department of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence agreed on the building of roadmaps and plans to promote the implementation of the cooperation program between the two defence ministries in 2019 and the years to come.
