(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam urges the international community and development partners to continue to support the democratic transition in Myanmar, in line with the wishes and interests of the Myanmar people, said Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai.

Ambassador Mai, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization (WTO) and other international organizations in Geneva, voiced Vietnam’s stance on Myanmar situation during the 29th special session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) last weekend.
The meeting was held online at the request of the European Union (EU) and the UK on the human rights situation in Myanmar following recent developments in this Southeast Asian country.
As a country in the region and a member of the ASEAN, Vietnam closely monitors developments in Myanmar and hopes that Myanmar will soon stabilize the situation to build and develop the country for peace, stability and cooperation in the region, continuing to contribute to the ASEAN Community building process, according to Ambassador Mai.
