Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh told the conference that sustainable economic recovery and development is Vietnam’s current top priority. So Vietnam wants to learn from international experts, organizations, and researchers to revise its vision on a green, clean, and inclusive economic rebound, he said.

“I want your opinions to focus on, first, ways to settle the impacts of growth on the environment, climate, natural resources, biodiversity, and human health. Second, how to fine-tune the legal framework and implement policies effectively to protect vulnerable groups and ensure their equitable access to social services and economic opportunity. Third, improving the productivity, quality, performance, and competitiveness of the Vietnamese economy, accelerating the transition to renewable energy and the circular economy, pushing green finance and technology, and dealing with social impacts of the transition process,” said Mr. Minh. 

UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner, in his keynote address to the Conference, sent his congratulations to Vietnam for major achievements towards a greener, cleaner economy. Vietnam’s GDP is expected to grow to 5.5% this year from 2.8% in 2021.
