Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made his comments to the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Article IV Mission at a reception in Hanoi on Friday. He said, Vietnam is also boosting public investment, particularly in transportation infrastructure, and will issue government and corporate bonds, reduce taxes and fees, and adopt other incentives to support the development of businesses.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that Vietnam will achieve its socio-economic development targets for 2024 and the 2021-2026 period. He asked the IMF to continue strengthening its cooperation with Vietnam and providing technical support and training in areas such as economic and banking management, green finance, and international integration.
Paulo Medas, head of the mission recommended that Vietnam continue to improve its institutions to create a transparent business environment, enhance governance, fight corruption, and remove barriers to investment, especially in the infrastructure and renewable energy sectors. He said the IMF is ready to support Vietnam as requested by PM Chinh.
