Ho Phuoc Sang from the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap beat his Chinese rival 2-0 in the men’s singles to reclaim the title he won two years ago in Hong Kong.
Vietnamese duo Tran Ngoc Hai and Trinh Thi Nga defeated a Chinese pair in the semi-final and a Hong Kong pair in the mixed doubles final.
Tran Ngoc Hai said: “Before the match against the Chinese team I thought I couldn’t participate in the competition, but thanks to the help of my comrades and doctors, I played pretty well. In the second game against the rival from Hong Kong, I felt easier.”
On Friday, Vietnamese players will continue to compete in men’s and women’s doubles.
This year’s tournament drew 15 teams, all members of the International Shuttlecock Federation.
